almost 2,000 years since the END was expected, always around the corner since the apostle Paul. You can either play along, or have fun with a challenge. How many generations of Bible students/JW's have died expecting the end in their own lifetime? 5?, 6?

Out of the world, into the Truth
by apalro infor some background - i studied on & off as a child with a jehovah's witness who has been patiently working on lots of our family for more than a decade and never gave up on any of us.
as a middle-schooler and a highschooler, my love for jehovah and any association with my childhoood bible teacher... faded.

One bad decision after another. Will you ever grow up?
Out of the world into the cult that will keep you and treat you like a child.

Why the NFL Protest Is a Massive and Insulting Failure
by freemindfade ini think everyone has the freedom to protest, they also have freedom of speech, these are two fundamental things that make america amazing.
but thinking rationally about what is going on with the nfl, therefore, i have an unfavorable opinion of the league, and the players, not their right to free speech, but their motive and execution of it.
constitutional freedom to protest ends at the workplace door too.

Excellent point by David Reuben. Except that in matters of free speech the president has "more free speech" than the rest of us. He has access to the pulpit with the biggest audience. And unfortunately his style, even substance, is very divisive.

"No thought lingers in his brain for more that a tenth of a second before it's rushed out through this dried lips, without considering of how it will sound."
So true. Sam Harris has made reference to Trump's "ability" to jump instantly from one statement to the next and without any forethought.

Hecce: "It has been going on for one year and it was picking up steam before the President's comments."
My point remains, Trump has made the protest into big news instantly and the backlash is enormous. You may be more interested in facts. That's good, but race relations in the U.S. require much more than just presenting the facts. You have a group of people that have been abused for hundreds of years and shaking out the idea that racism is no longer the greatest issue is not going to be an easy task. Trump and his supporters are going about fixing the problem the wrong way. They are going to make this country as divided as it was in the 1800's.

"I did. The facts do not seem to support the narrative of racism."
Agree, but we are moving towards a world that is very divided along color lines and nationalities. And the causes of this division go back hundreds of years, millennia even. We can all say is not my problem that others see offense and racism where there is none. However, it's everyone's problem, even when others overreact. We have to act wisely to change misunderstandings or errors of perception. Trump and his supporters, as well as others on the other side of the political spectrum, only make things worse. These situations have ramifications that will affect everyone's quality of life.

"Also, I agree Trump stepping in and stirring the pot seems to be a distraction"
No, President Trump is not the distraction, he is the issue. His unlimited narcissism is dangerous and counterproductive. He injects himself in the news and makes them much bigger all the time. I didn't know a thing about the kneeling until Trump open his mouth. The protest would have died down, but our wise president craves attention too much to let that happen.

@truthbknown: "Here's the biggest issue of all (not that any of this really matters) - Why would we want out national anthem played at the beginning of a sporting event?"
I am with you on that. I have a theory: inculcating patriotism is no different from indoctrination in a cult. Hence the repetitions as much as possible, even in events (football games) where Americans beat...yes, beat other Americans, not the enemy. And quite commonly the players thank God for the victory. We are surrounded by cults.
Instead of so much emotional indoctrination through pledges and anthems, we should do a better job at teaching U.S. history and World history. That will give plenty more reasons to want to be an American. I just sang the U.S. National Anthem in the ceremony of my naturalization as a U.S. citizen. The Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance played no role in my desire to be a U.S. citizen; my knowing U.S. history and having lived in the U.S. for many years did.

New, but needed to vent- thank you :-)
by Danni Jackson ini discovered your website this morning as i was trying to find some information about 'marking'.
you see a very close friend of mine was 'marked' earlier this week and as i know the ins and outs of the situation (as we are close friends) i disregarded the talk immediately as i know my friend is obviously having issues but is no way a 'danger' to anybody else's spiritual health.
basically they are dating a non-believer- hence the talk.

Hi Danni,
Welcome back! Just don't be harsh on yourself. Your children have a great parent, smart and caring. Mistakes, especially those made when we are most vulnerable, are forgivable. You joined the JW's because you thought they were a good place for you children. You acted out of love and concern for them.
My wife also married a non-believer and was marked for it. Before the wedding she got a talk especially intended for her; I know it because I was there. She was called a STAIN. Nice! I was the one who stained her. But stupid me, I failed to see the obvious until I joined this forum five years ago (18 years after our wedding). I was blinded by the love bombing, well behaving, well intended rank and file, but remained ignorant of the leadership, thinking that the humble brothers and sisters were a mirror image of it.
Even though I have been an atheist my whole adult life, I was nonetheless fooled by the neat veil of the JW's. So much that I bought into their BS and accepted the possibility, even with pride, that my two children would become two shining Bethelites.
The benefit from joining this forum is that I saw through the Watchtower BS and was able to rescue my youngest. I don't lose hope that one day my wife and daughter will give the finger to the Watchtower. If it ever happens, the process will be painful; all their friends and family are in. But knowing what I know from people like you, I will make my best effort to fill with love the void left by a deceiving cult.
